UG COURSES :
Name of the course – Bachelor of Commerce
Commerce is a branch of knowledge and a popular career choice for a large number of students. It is a faculty covering a variety of Major subjects like Advanced Accounting and Taxation, Cost and Works Accounting, Marketing Management, Banking and Finance, Business Statistics.
It provides core knowledge to students in these various subjects and prepares them for working in trade, industries and service sector as well as self employment.
As per National Education Policy, the college has introduced Field Projects, Community Engagement Programs and On the Job Training in the commerce curriculum in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Department faculty members are actively involved to encourage the students. A variety of methods are used for teaching and learning to the students like using ITC tools, Conducting Industrial Visits, Seminars, Workshops,Guest Lectures,etc. Efforts are made to expose the students to practical situations and development of skills among the students. Every year the department organises the guest lecture on Union Budget. The department offers the Training and Placement Program for the students of T.Y. B.Com where training of Advanced Excel, Data Analysis, SQL, Interview Skills, Soft Skills,etc is given to the students.
PG COURSES :
Name of the course – Master of Commerce
Commenced in 1978. Was affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University till the year 2019. Under autonomous courses, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was offered. After the introduction of National Education Policy in 2023, the college has introduced the framework that includes ” On the Job Training” and Research Project at Post Graduate Level.
Faculty members of the department are actively involved in encouraging the students. A variety of methods are used for teaching and learning to the students like using ICT tools, Conducting Industrial Visits, Seminars, Workshops, Guest Lectures, etc. Efforts are made to expose the students to practical situations and development of skills among the students. Objectives of the course :
- To provide a strong foundation in core areas of commerce such as Accounting and Taxation, Cost and Work Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing Management and Business Statistics.
- To develop practical skills through field projects, on-the-job training, and community engagement programs in line with the National Education Policy.
- To bridge the gap between theory and practice by using innovative teaching methods such as ICT tools, industrial visits, seminars, workshops, and guest lectures.
- To enhance analytical and problem-solving abilities required for decision-making in trade, industries, service sectors, and self-employment.
- To expose students to real-world practices through activities like guest lectures on the Union Budget, Stock Exchange Operations Workshop and industry-focused training sessions,.
- To prepare students for employability and entrepreneurship by imparting skills in advanced Excel, data analysis, SQL, interview techniques, and soft skills.
- To help students for their all-round development by encouraging their participation in various competitions organised by the Commerce Association which provides a platform for quality enhancement.
