About the Department:

Progressive Education Society’s ,Arts ,science and commerce College started its commerce self finance department in the year 2007.Considering  the changing scenario of this globalized world and the increasing demand for commerce courses the college was able to start a new department under the banner namely-Business Administration Campus (Commerce Self-Financed Section)in the year June 2007.The functioning of it was inaugurated with gracious presence of Hon Chairman. Prof. Dr. Gajanan Ekbote, Prof. Mrs. Jotysna Ekbote, Prof. S. Y. Vaishampayan and Prof. A. V. Deshpande on 3rd July 2007. The Campus was headed and managed by Prof. Dr. M.D. Alandikar  till the academic year 2024-25.This year the charge is taken over by Dr Anjali Sardesai as an academic Coordinator  of the Campus.The department  has been performing successfully.

From 2007 to 2018  the department followed the Savitribai Phule  Pune university syllabus .In the year 2019  Our college became Autonomous and we enjoyed the privilege of framing our own syllabus following the guidelines of Savitribai Phule Pune university .In the academic year 2023-24  the college accepted the New Education Policy(2020) with 2023 Pattern and in the year 2024-2025  department accepted NEP 2024 Pattern for B.COM  and M.COM. New pattern came up with new challenges .Department has been successful in implementing the same. It is one of the biggest department with more than 7oo students.

The faculty mentors have been appointed and they are playing a crucial role in mentoring the students. The mentors have been guiding the students throughout, providing both professional and personal advices, giving constructive feedback on admission process, examination pattern and its preparation, exam paper writing tips and other elements of career design.

Objectives of the department:

1. To offer quality education in field of commerce at higher level.
2. To equip and train students for seeking professional careers in field of Accountancy and Cost & Management Accountancy and accepting the challenges of changing Business World.
3. To develop independent logical thinking and facilitate personality development of students to cater to the manpower needs of industries in Accounting, Taxation, Auditing and Financial Analysis and  Management.
4. To enable students for seeking career as Entrepreneur by developing communication and analytical skills.
5. To prepare students for Data collection by various methods and their interpretations.
