The Department of Chemistry of this college has been established in 1970. The department is catering the student’s educational needs by offering the courses like Junior college (Std. 11^th, 12^th), Under Graduate (B.Sc) and Post Graduate (M.Sc Analytical and Organic Chemistry) courses. Department of Chemistry is also actively engaged in research activities and equipped with the research laboratory, where the research students are pursuing their PhD degree. Post Graduate Research Center in Chemistry had produced a quality research publication in international peer reviewed journals.

Senior college faculties are highly qualified PhDs from renowned institutions and most of teachers are pursuing it from various prestigious research centers. The Department is fully equipped with modern instruments and equipments. Along with prescribed curriculum, extra activities like seminars, group discussions, live demonstrations, industrial visits, guest lectures etc. were also organized by the department for overall development of students. The Department of Chemistry had produced a huge alumni database offering their services to the society in various multinational pharmaceutical companies, Research and Development Laboratories, Forensic Laboratories, National Laboratories and institutes and also in the key administrative positions of state and national government.

Well-equipped and specious laboratories for Junior, UG, PG. The laboratories are maintained with following the green chemistry principles and environment friendly laboratory practices. All the Laboratories are equipped with fume hoods, fire extinguishers, eye washer, showers and personal protecting equipments during accidents.

The department possesses desktops and laptops enriched with the advanced chemistry softwares for carrying out the project work of UG and PG students. Department is having the Board room facility for various presentation, meetings and discussions with audio-visual facilities

The department has two spacious well-equipped research laboratories, where eight (8) research students pursuing the PhD degree under the guidance of three (3) research guides. More than 100 students had completed their research projects as a partial fulfilment of the M. Sc. degree in this laboratory. Ten (10) research projects, earned the grants (nearly 25 Lacs) funded by various funding agencies like UGC, BCUD, Seed Money etc. were completed and earned the prestigious publication in reputed chemistry research journals published by American Chemical Society, Wiley, Royal Society of Chemistry, Springer etc.

Department is enriched with the best configured and advanced Chemistry IT laboratory with the latest Chemistry softwares for the UG, PG and research students. This laboratory is also used for the various presentations of the courses like On Job Training (OJT), Community Engagement Programme (CEP), Research Project (RP) etc. introduced during the implementation of National Education Policy (2020).
