Activities conducted in the Department: Every year following activities are conducted:
- Guest lecture to celebrate Statistics Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr P C Mahalanobis
- Guest lecture to celebrate birth anniversary of renowned statistician Dr P V Sukhatme
- Dr M B Kulkarni memorial lecture
- Statistics Fest including Poster competition, statistics quiz, statistical puzzles, essay competition, debate, group discussion etc
- Project competition
Students Achievements : Some achievements are as follows:
Prof. Doke ( M.Sc. Statistics 1982) : Was topper in UNiversity of Pune at M.Sc. Statistics. Currently he is working as Vice Principal at Vile Parle College, Pune.
Deo Sumedha: ( M.Sc. Statistics 2002): First rank at University of pune in 2002 in Statistics and assed SET examination.
Gajmal Kalyani (2004): First rank in science faculty at B.Sc. at University of Pune in 2004.
Pokharkar Yogesh(2009): First rank in T.Y.B.Sc. at Modern college of pune-05.
Medhekar Angha: Published a textbook in mAthematics for D.Ed. classes in 2016.
Shilpa Jadhav: Published a novel ” nabhyapalyakadcha Sapan’’.
Potnis C.E. : Completed M.Sc. from IIT Powai. Received exemplary Industrialist award in 2014. Published a book “Road to Success”, Multiversity publication.
Payas Santosh: Received presidential medal for best Census work in 2011.
Gaikwad Kirti: Completed M.Sc. from IIT Powai, Mumbai. Cleared the Indian Statistical Services examination of UPSC and was appointed as Deputy Director and Passed SET examination.
Dr. Gurav Rajendra:Received Ph.D. degree in 2015.
Sujata Iyyer, Jayany Mhetre : Are statistical officers in Bureau of Economics and Statistics, Government of MAharashtra.
Shubha Rao, Anajli Bembelkar:Are programmers at National Information Centre( NIC) Pune.
Ms. Yogini Hatwalane: Participated in Avishkar and was selected for next round.
Ms. Tamanna Shaikh, M.Sc. Passout student, got selected as Naib Tahasildar”.
She secured 8 th rank among girls ( General rank: 106) in the MPSC examination .
Sushant Hiremath, TYBSc, Pass out student got selected in Air Force of India.
M.Sc.students Sristi Batra and Fainry Andrimijoro successfully completed Hackathon during 8-11 November 2022. The Hackathon was conducted by the United Nations Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for official Statistics.
