A quiz competition was conducted by the Department of Physics on 25th February 2023. The students of MSc (I), MSc (II) and T.Y. B.Sc. (Physics) participated in the competitions, comprising 10 teams in all.
C) Hands on training Workshop for students : LED bulb making workshop
The Department of Physics conducted a one-day workshop under Green Campus Initiative of the college on “Hands-on Training on Manufacturing Rechargeable LED Bulbs for UG and PG Students” in collaboration with Avience Scientific (LED Bulb Manufacturer), Pune & Science Association, Modern College, Shivajinagar, on 18th January 2023. According to the theme of this workshop, the importance of sustainable development of energy as well as energy saving have enlightened. In this workshop LED, PCB design, LED drivers, soldering, component fitting, illumination testing, etc., fundamental things were explained. In this workshop, 57 students actively participated and manufactured 57 rechargeable LED bulbs. The certificates were distributed at the hands of Principal Dr. R. S. Zunjarrao during the valedictory function.
D) Hands on training Workshop for students : Decorative LED string lights manufacturing workshop
The Department of Physics had organised a one-day business startup workshop on the making of decorative LED string lights in collaboration with Avience Scientific (LED bulb manufacturer), Pune, and the Science Association of Modern College Shivajinagar, Pune, on 29th August 2023. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Avinash Rokade, Founder Director, Avience Scientific, and Prof. S. S. Thengadi, Head, Department of Physics, MCASC. The main objective of the workshop was to make aspiring physicists acquainted with conceptual as well as practical knowledge. The idea of the workshop was to teach fundamentals of component fitting, testing and soldering along with startup ideas. In this workshop, 64 students actively participated and manufactured 64 LED string lights.
E) Virtual Lab Workshop :
The Department of Physics had organised a one-day workshop on Virtual Lab in two sessions. The first session was conducted on 7th Dec 2024, while the second one was on 12th and 13th February 2015. The workshop aimed to provide a virtual laboratory platform for students. The use of virtual labs facilitated students carrying out experiments which were otherwise difficult to set up in physical labs. Also different methods and experimental techniques with existing lab experiments were adopted. This widened the theoretical and experimental knowledge of students. This workshop is conducted every year.
