Application Details for the Post of Principal

Applications are invited for Maharashtra Government Sanctioned “Principal” Position of Grant-in-Aid Section in the Progressive Education Society’s, Modern College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), Shivajinagar, Pune – 411 005.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications (both online and offline) within 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement (i.e. from 23rd May 2025 to 21st June 2025). The hard copy along with all supporting self attested documents should be submitted on or before 21st June 2025, in the college office within office hours.

The general terms and conditions as regard to minimum qualifications required for the post of ‘Principal’ shall be as specified by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune 7 and Government of Maharashtra Resolution No.Misc.-2018 /C.R.56/18/UNI-1, dated 08.03.2019 and Corrigendum dated 10.05.2019.

Advertisement is published with reference to NOC received from the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra letter No.JDHEPune/NOC/2025/70 dated 20th May 2025.

It is mandatory to fill and submit the Google form online and the prescribed print form along with all self attested supporting documents offline within given time limit at college office in the office hours.

Processing fees for the Candidate is Rs.1000 /- (Rs. One Thousand Only).  The payment should be made via Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Progressive Education Society, Pune 5”.

Essential Qualifications:

A. Eligibility:

  1. Ph.D. degree
  2. Professor/Associate Professor with a total service/ experience of at least fifteen years of teaching/research in Universities, Colleges and other institutions of higher education.
  3. A minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
  4.  A minimum of 110 Research Score as per Appendix II, Table 2 B in mentioned in Government Resolution No. Misc-2018/C.R.56/18/UNI-1 dated 8th March 2019

Tenure:

  1. The tenure will be for a period of five years, extendable for another term of five years on the basis of performance assessment by a committee appointed by the University, constituted as per the UGC Regulations 2018.
  2. After the completion of his/her term as Principal, the incumbent shall join back his/her Parent organization with the designation as Associate Professor/Professor.
  3. The candidate should have Ph. D degree in accordance with UGC (minimum standard and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree) regulation-2009
  4. Note:
  1. Qualifications and Service conditions will be as per the existing rules of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Govt. of Maharashtra and Progressive Education Society, Shivajinagar, Pune-05
  2. An applicant who is currently in service must submit their application through the proper channel; failure to do so will result in disqualification from the interview process.
  3. The appointment will be effective from 1st September 2025.
  4. The minimum qualification required for the post of Principal shall be as specified by UGC in its notification dated 18th July 2018 and Government of Maharashtra from time to time.
  5. No TA/ DA will be paid to the candidate, for appearing for the interview.
  6. The Medium of instructions is English only with knowledge of Marathi and Hindi.
  7. The link of online application is available on Modern college website (www.moderncollegepune.edu.in) duly filled application form should be accompanied with Demand Draft of Rs.1000/- (One Thousand Only). Demand draft should be drawn in favor of Progressive Education Society, Pune-5
  8. As per the Notification No. SRV.2000/CR (17/2000) XII, dated 28th March 2005 issued by general Administration Department, Mantrlaya, Mumbai, a candidate shall submit the declaration of the small family in the prescribed format attached with an application as declaration Form-A.
  1. Relevant experience and educational qualifications will be counted as on the last date prescribed for making online/offline applications.
  2. Candidates are requested to refer to the college website from time to time as all information, communication and circulars will be notified on the website by the college. The College will not entertain any inquiry regarding eligibility criteria.
  3. The College will not be responsible for any delay or non-acknowledgement of postal correspondence.

Authority The Progressive Education Society/ Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Shivajinagar, Pune-5 reserves all rights to fill the post advertised and change, if any. The decision of the appointing authority will be final and binding on applicants and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
