Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune -5 was established in the year 1970 as the first senior college of Progressive Education Society. As per the vision of founder members of P. E. Society, Late Shri. Shankarraoji Kanitkar and Late Shri. V. T. Tatke, we are following the two keywords ‘Progressive’ and ‘Modern’. I feel that this college has progressed right from the beginning to a glorious destination today and going to reach their set goals in future.
Modern college has several achievements like ‘Best College Award’ by Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2008, NAAC Accreditation ‘A’ grade in 2010, CPE status of UGC in 2011, Best College award, NSS by SPPU, BSR funds from UGC, FIST (Funds for Improvement of Science & Technology Infrastructure) grants from DST and STAR college scheme from DBT in 2013. Recently in 2015, UGC sanctioned ‘Community College Scheme’ to this college. The college has been conferred ‘Best College Award (Sports) for the academic year 2015-16, by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The number of students enrolled during this academic year is more than 9500, and it is prestigious that there are 83 International students admitted in this year. I am proud to mention that the college has established the use of ICT in administration, teaching-learning process. A ‘Digital Record Room’ and ‘Digital Library’ are established to benefit students services.
The college organises one International, One National and two State Level conferences. Along with the academic, research, co-curricular achievements, the college has crossed landmarks in Social work. Paddy Plantation, socio-economic survey of neighborhood community, guidance sessions for blind students, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc. are remarkable activities conducted by the college NSS unit. Also, the players from department of Physical Education won 131 Gold, 104 Silver and 63 Bronze medals in various level sports events. I am confident that college will progress in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in with the same pace, as in academics.
I give full credit for the progress of this college to the Principal Dr. Rajendra S. Zunjarrao and the local managing committee of this college, which consists of senior educationists like Prof. P.S. Chirputkar, Prof. A. K. Pande and Prof. Mrs. J. G. Ekbote. The Vice-Principals along with office bearers have been assisting the Principal with a positive attitude. I am glad to mention that all teaching and non-teaching staff members have contributed to the success and achievements of Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune -5.
Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune -5, is an “ASSET” to P.E. Society as well as Savitribai Phule Pune University due to its several achievements in the field of Education.
